The Caribbean Regional Youth Council (CRYC) will convene the 8th Caribbean Youth Leaders’ Summit & Stakeholders Forum with its overall theme: “YOUth: “Shaping our Common Future towards a Resilient Sustainable Caribbean Community”. The theme gains added significance in the context of a post-COVID-19 world.

The theme gains added significance in the context of a post-COVID-19 world. It symbolizes the strategic alignment of global and regional commitments, forming a nexus for collaboration as we seek to build a resilient common future. It positions Caribbean youth as architects of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), positioning them as crucial agents for positive and lasting impact in the Caribbean community’s recovery and progress towards a prosperous future.

About the CRYC

The Caribbean Regional Youth Council (“CRYC”) is the voice of youth throughout the Caribbean and Americas. It is a unified network of National Youth Councils (NYCs), youth-led organizations, structures, and other empowered youth within the region who are working together towards common objectives that include the sustainable inclusion and engagement of young people within the region. Established at the 3rd Caribbean Youth Leaders’ Summit in 2013, this unified network continues to work within the region where it is committed to advocating for youth participation in development policy dialogue and decision-making processes. CRYC is a strategic youth governance and advocacy movement with one voice working towards regional representation, integration, and cooperation as a platform for youth development. Since its inception,  

CYRC has two main goals: 

  1. Improved participation representation and advocacy, and 
  2. Strengthened youth networks.

The 8th Caribbean Youth Leaders’ Summit will:

  1. Facilitate dialogue between young leaders and stakeholders on SDG commitments and actions at national, regional, and global levels.
  2. Empower youth to actively participate in implementing the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, including youth-led monitoring and accountability mechanisms.
  3. Build capacity of Caribbean youth leaders and development workers to better serve an innovative youth population.
  4. Develop and ratify a regional youth strategy for the 2030 Agenda, creating an official position and action plan for the Caribbean Regional Youth Council (CRYC).

Outcomes

  1. Youth-driven policy recommendations for SDG implementation
  2. Enhanced youth participation in sustainable development initiatives
  3. Strengthened capacity of young Caribbean leaders
  4. A comprehensive regional youth strategy aligned with the 2030 Agenda
