Activities

The 8th Caribbean Youth Leaders’ Summit is a four-day youth and stakeholder forum that engages youth of the Caribbean on the way forward on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development as well as towards building resilience amongst our youth within the Caribbean. 

Opening Ceremony

The Opening Ceremony will serve as the Official Welcome Ceremony for the 8th Caribbean Youth Leaders’ Summit and will feature speeches, remarks, and greetings from key stakeholders. The Programme will feature cultural talent from the youth of the host country.  The opening ceremony will officially open the Caribbean Youth Leaders’ Summit.

Welcome Reception & Cultural Showcase

The purpose of this event is to officially welcome delegates of the 8th  Caribbean Youth Leaders’ Summit to the host country. This event is proposed to be hosted under the distinguished Patronage of the Prime Minister/Minister/Ambassador where applicable. 

Capacity Skills Building Labs

The Capacity Skills Building Lab will take the format of interactive immersive master class sessions that will allow participants to be equipped with essential tools, knowledge, and skillsets to aid in young people’s becoming effective advocates.  These Capacity Skills Building Labs will be led by a Facilitator who will guide the proceedings.

Plenary Fire Chat Sessions

At the Plenary Fire Chat sessions, the forum’s main themes will be presented by a dynamic cadre of inter-generational panelists who will be selected by their work and other contributions to the theme being presented. At the plenary sessions, attendees will gain a cross-section understanding of the theme.

Youth Action Labs

The Youth Action Lab will take the format of breakout Sessions that will allow participants to deep dive into solutions around the sub-thematic area and will involve ideation of solutions utilizing design thinking under the sub-thematic areas. These Action Labs will be led by a Facilitator who will guide the proceedings.

Side Events

The Side Events of the 8th  Caribbean Youth Leaders’ Summit will comprise a series of fringe events geared towards enhancing the overall experience of delegates that take place in the lead-up to during and post-event. It offers an opportunity for partners and in-country stakeholders to get on board.

In-Country Dialogues & National Youth Summits

In the lead-up to the 8th Caribbean Youth Leaders’ Summit, The Caribbean Regional Youth Council will collaborate with National Youth Councils, Youth organizations, and other key in-country stakeholders to deliver Country Dialogues and or National Youth Summits to engage youth in the thematic areas of the Summit. This will be conducted both in person and virtually therefore further increasing the impact and reach of the 8th Caribbean Youth Leaders’ Summit. 

Webinars & Capacity Building Training

In the lead-up to the 8th Caribbean Youth Leaders’ Summit the Caribbean Regional Youth Council through the Regional Task Force will collaborate with key development stakeholders to hold live interactive webinar series as well as provide training to young persons of the Caribbean and Americas region around the thematic areas.  The selection of Regional Delegates will hinge upon the successful completion of Pre-Summit Training. Active Participation and Attendance at Webinar and Capacity Building. 

Youth Expo and Entrepreneurship Hub

This will be set up parallel to the summit at the venue, it allows youth organizations, development stakeholders, and entrepreneurs the opportunity to showcase their organization as well as their products.

Culture Night Pump Yuh Flag

What is a good Caribbean gathering without a cultural gathering “lime” or “fete’? Pump Yuh Flag offers delegates a cultural explosion of cultural talent the event will take the event of a mini cultural showcase and will feature a feature of a live DJ. Delegates are to show up and out in their national colors and national cultural attire. Proposed Date:  Friday 27th September,2024. It is being proposed that this side event be merged with the Welcome to Host Country Welcome Reception and will be held after the formalities. 

Outreach and Island Immersion Tour 

This will allow for Delegates in various groups to engage in action Community Service Projects across the island in collaboration with other in-country youth organizations and other NGOs.  it is further proposed that the afternoon period be scheduled for delegates to visit important historical sites and gain insight into the culture and heritage of the host country. 

Caribbean Regional Youth Council’s Annual General Assembly & Election of CRYC Executive (2025/2027) 

As part of the 8th Caribbean Youth Leaders’ Summit, the General Assembly of the Caribbean Regional Youth Council will host its Annual General Meeting where reports will be laid, and key decisions will be ratified. Further, the CRYC General Assembly comprising National Delegates from member states will formally elect and Install the Executive Body for the 2025/2027 Term of Office. 

Closing Ceremony & 2nd Annual Caribbean Youth Awards 

The Caribbean Regional Youth Council in collaboration with its partners will host the 2nd Caribbean Youth Awards in celebration of Caribbean Youth Day on September 30th, 2024, and will seek to recognize the outstanding work of youth development stakeholders and youth organizations across the Region.  The 35 under 35 Caribbean 2024/2025 Cohort will be formally installed.
